Thank You

Thanks to the overwhelming support of our community, the second annual Project DREAM College Bound Scholarship Program was an amazing success! Last April, nearly 200 Twin Rivers’ graduates participated in the College Bound 101 workshop. This is a day-long workshop to prepare them for the transition from high school to college. They learned about financial responsibility, how to pay for college, how to select courses, what they can expect when living in a dorm and how to find the resources they'll need on campus.

Twenty-six of these students applied for and won the Project DREAM College Bound Scholarship. In July, our winners participated in a shopping spree at Target to chose school and dorm supplies. Fifteen of these students also received a brand new Toshiba laptop, loaded with software, virus protection and wireless internet access. A special thanks to the Sacramento Bee's Book of Dreams and IVS Computers for purchasing the computers for our fortunate students. The Kelly Foundation, Point West Kiwanis Club, Target and individual donors funded the shopping sprees for our students.

We are already planning for the 2012 Scholarship Program and are excited about the possibilities of impacting our community. We are recruiting partners to help us in this effort. If you or someone you know might be interested in getting more involved, please contact Kate Bishop-Hazarian at (916) 566-1759 or kate.bishop@twinriversusd.org. Thank you again for your support!
